OPTIMIST LADIES GOLF CLUB
Golf Is About More Than Just the Swing
Golf isn’t just about scoring low, it’s about how you carry yourself on the course. Whether you’re a beginner or a long-time player, proper golf etiquette sets the tone for every round. It reflects your respect for the game, the course, and the people sharing it with you.
Good etiquette protects the pace of play, keeps everyone safe, and shows courtesy. Imagine lining up your shot when someone’s phone blasts a ringtone nearby. It’s frustrating, distracting, and completely avoidable.
Respect for Fellow Players
Show Up on Time
20 minutes prior to your tee time, paid and ready to play
Don’t Offer Unsolicited Advice
Unless you’re specifically asked, keep coaching to yourself and let your playing partners enjoy the round their way.
Don’t Walk Across Someone’s Putting Line
It’s one of the most common breaches of etiquette for golf and one of the easiest to avoid. Always take a few extra steps around the line rather than through it.
Yell “Fore!” When Necessary
If your ball flies toward another group, yelling “Fore!” is a safety requirement.
Maintain a Good Pace and Be Ready to Hit
Choose your club while others are hitting
Limit practice swings
keep up to the group ahead

-
Drive Carts and pull carts in line with the flag when ready to putt
-
Leave the green quickly and move to the next tee without delay. Mark your scorecard on the next tee, never while on the green
Maximum strokes/hole
-
On a par 3, once you have taken 4 shots, and on a par 4, once you have taken 5 shots, move the ball to the edge of the green and putt out.
Searching for a ball
-
limit time searching to 3 minutes.
Learn, Improve, and enjoy the game!
Proper golf etiquette doesn’t require you to be perfect, just be mindful. When you show up early and treat others with respect, you create a better experience for yourself and everyone around you.
You don’t need to be a pro to enjoy the game the right way. That’s the kind of golfer we welcome at the optimist Ladies Golf Club.
