The Optimist Ladies Golf Club was established in 1992 to promote and develop the sport of golf at the recreational level for active seniors 55+ in Etobicoke and the surrounding areas. It was the fourth group to be organized at that time.

The group plays at Scarlett Woods, 1000 Jane St at Eglinton Ave W, in Etobicoke on Monday mornings from the beginning of May until the end of September. The club was organized by Linda Christensen, Senior Sports Coordinator for Senior Citizens Section, Etobicoke Parks and Recreation. The first meeting was held April 14, 1992 at the Ski Chalet, Centennial Park, with 18 members present. Play began at Centennial Park Golf Centre on May 4, 1992. In May 1995, the Club moved to Scarlett Woods Golf Course and continues to play there to this day.

The year begins with our Annual General Meeting and Season Launch Luncheon in April, followed by our first day of golf in May. Three fun days are held each season and the annual tournament is held in early September with the awards luncheon at a later date.
